Private Jet Wood Buffalo to Cavallo

Wood Buffalo to Cavallo is a journey of about 4,171 nautical miles, a sector that calls for a heavy business jet, with the Bombardier Global 6000 a well-suited choice departing Fort McMurray International Airport in northern Alberta. Cruising near 45,000 feet, the aircraft’s range comfortably covers the roughly eight-hour crossing while its cabin pressurisation helps keep passengers fresher across a journey of this length. At the far end lies Cavallo, one of the granite islands making up the Lavezzi archipelago, set within the Bonifacio Strait that divides Corsica from Sardinia. The island offers a markedly different experience from a conventional coastal resort: there are no roads and no vehicles, only sandy footpaths connecting a handful of villas tucked among wind-bent pine trees. Strong currents through the strait keep the surrounding sea remarkably transparent, a feature that has long drawn sailors and made Cavallo a quiet fixture among those who know the Mediterranean well. Its owners have deliberately limited development over the decades, preserving a rugged, largely unspoiled landscape of granite outcrops and coastal scrub that stands in contrast to the busier resorts elsewhere along the Corsican and Sardinian coastlines. There is no commercial centre to speak of, only the occasional yacht anchored in a sheltered cove and villa terraces catching the evening light. Evenings tend to unfold slowly, with dinners built around the day’s catch and conversation carrying on long after sunset over Sardinia’s distant silhouette. For travellers based in northern Alberta, the route marks a considerable shift from boreal forest and industrial landscape to a secluded Mediterranean island built around water, pine and quiet, best suited to those planning a longer, restorative stay.
