Private Jet Bella Coola to Mesa

Bella Coola and Mesa lie approximately 1,312 nautical miles apart, a sector that calls for a light jet with strong mountain-airport capability. Given Bella Coola’s remote coastal setting, this route often uses a Citation CJ4 or a well-equipped turboprop such as the Pilatus PC-12 for the initial repositioning, before onward travel continues in a larger cabin; the direct sector itself typically takes around two and a half hours in a capable light jet cruising near 41,000 feet. Bella Coola Airport, tucked into a fjord-lined valley on British Columbia’s central coast, is one of the more dramatic departure points on the network, accessible only by boat, floatplane or a single winding mountain road. Mesa Gateway Airport receives the flight in the East Valley, a striking contrast in landscape and climate. Bella Coola’s isolation and surrounding Great Bear Rainforest draw wildlife enthusiasts and anglers, many of whom use private aviation precisely because scheduled service to the region is so limited. Mesa, by comparison, offers the amenities and warmth of a well-developed desert metropolitan area. The PC-12’s short-field capability makes it especially well suited to Bella Coola’s demanding valley approach, while its cabin comfortably carries fishing or outdoor equipment. Wilderness lodge operators, guides and their guests form the core of demand on this unusual pairing, alongside occasional relocations between coastal British Columbia and the Arizona desert. Because Bella Coola offers so few flight options of any kind, private charter remains one of the only practical ways to connect the fjord country directly with the American Southwest.
