Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN) is Mongolia’s main international airport, located in the Khöshig Valley in Töv Province about 52 km south of Ulaanbaatar. It opened in July 2021, replacing Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport. It has a single runway, 11/29, measuring 3,600 metres (11,811 feet), and sits at an elevation of 4,482 feet (1,366 metres) at coordinates 47.6514° N, 106.8214° E.
The long runway suits every business jet, which matters here: the airport’s elevation and the extreme temperature range, from very cold winters to warm summers, both affect aircraft performance and need careful planning. Winter operations also bring de-icing and cold-soak considerations. The airport is used by mining executives, investors and government delegations, and private aircraft can continue to regional airports serving the Gobi mining projects. The transfer into central Ulaanbaatar and Sükhbaatar Square takes around an hour, and the ger camps of Gorkhi-Terelj National Park are a longer drive to the east. Permits and handling should be arranged in advance, particularly for routes over China or Russia. The Jet Collection plans the operation, arranges permissions and handling, and books ground transport.
