Langkawi International Airport (LGK) is located at Padang Matsirat on the west side of Langkawi’s main island, in the Malaysian state of Kedah, a few minutes from the beaches of Pantai Cenang and around half an hour from Kuah and the northern resorts. Its single runway, 03/21, measures 3,810 metres (12,500 feet), with a displaced threshold on runway 03. The airport sits at an elevation of 16 feet (5 metres) at coordinates 6.3333° N, 99.7333° E.
The runway length means every category of business jet can operate here, from light jets on a short hop from Penang or Kuala Lumpur to long-range aircraft arriving direct from North Asia or the Middle East. The airport is also the venue for the biennial Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), which brings a surge of military and civil aircraft and a busy apron, so parking should be secured early in exhibition years. The rest of the time it is a relaxed resort airport serving the island’s hotels and marinas. The Jet Collection arranges the aircraft, ground handling and car or boat transfers to your resort.
