Private Jet Berry Islands to Grand Rapids

A short hop of roughly 1,112 nautical miles separates Great Harbour Cay Airport in the Berry Islands from Grand Rapids, a distance well matched to a light jet such as the Citation CJ4 or a turboprop like the Pilatus PC-12 for parties with lighter baggage needs. Great Harbour Cay’s modest runway suits smaller airframes particularly well, and a light jet covers the sector in a little over two hours while cruising efficiently in the low-to-mid 30,000s, below the altitudes typically flown by larger long-range types. The turboprop alternative, slower but notably economical, appeals to owners who split time between the island and the mainland on a regular basis. Fuel uplift at Great Harbour Cay is limited, so most operators plan to carry sufficient reserves from the Florida coast or Nassau rather than relying on refuelling locally. The Berry Islands remain one of the quieter corners of the Bahamian archipelago, prized by boating and fishing enthusiasts for waters that see a fraction of the traffic found around Nassau or the Exumas. Grand Rapids offers an entirely different pace on arrival, its downtown increasingly shaped by the Medical Mile research corridor and a craft brewing scene recognised well beyond Michigan’s borders. This pairing tends to serve boat owners and seasonal residents who treat the Berry Islands as a private retreat, people for whom the simplicity of a direct charter beats the inconvenience of routing through Nassau or Fort Lauderdale first. Chub Cay, just to the south, has also become a noted marlin fishing destination that draws a similar clientele each spring and summer. Great Harbour Cay’s marina also hosts a well-regarded sportfishing tournament each spring, drawing a loyal following of charter guests back to the island year after year.
