The Berry Islands to Krasnoyarsk is a 5,883 nautical mile crossing of some eleven and a quarter hours, following a great circle track that carries the aircraft up the eastern seaboard, over Greenland and across the Arctic before turning south into the Yenisei basin. Krasnoyarsk sits on both banks of the Yenisei and is the administrative capital of an enormous Siberian territory, with an economy built on aluminium smelting and the hydroelectric power generated upstream at Divnogorsk. The taiga starts where the city ends, and the weathered syenite pillars of the Stolby national park rise from the forest a short drive to the south. This is a route for private groups and corporate parties with a genuine reason to link a Bahamian base to Siberian interests, and for whom a single aircraft, however long the flight, is preferable to three scheduled connections spread over two days.
