Private Jet Berry Islands to Montgomery

A mere 600 nautical miles separate the Berry Islands from Montgomery, a short hop best flown aboard a Pilatus PC-12 turboprop or an Embraer Phenom 100 very light jet, both well matched to the modest runway at Great Harbour Cay Airport and to a flight time of around an hour and a half once airborne. Cruising comfortably in the low-to-mid twenties thousands of feet, these aircraft trade the altitude of a heavier jet for the kind of short-field performance this destination demands, landing and departing easily from a strip that larger business jets would find impractical. The Berry Islands themselves remain one of the quieter corners of the Bahamas, a scattering of cays favoured by sport fishermen and a handful of private island developments rather than the resort crowds found further south. On arrival, Montgomery Regional Airport sits close to a downtown built around Alabama’s state capitol and the civil rights landmarks that surround it, including the Dexter Avenue church where Dr. King once served as pastor. The city’s economy today blends that history with a modern manufacturing base led by the Hyundai assembly plant. This short sector particularly suits sport fishing enthusiasts, island property owners and small groups travelling light, for whom the simplicity of a direct turboprop hop between two lightly trafficked airports beats any commercial alternative, which would typically require a lengthy connection through Nassau or Florida before even approaching the Alabama leg of the journey. Fuel and handling at Great Harbour Cay remain limited, so operators flying this sector typically confirm arrangements well ahead of a planned departure rather than assuming availability on short notice.
