Helicopter Transfer Davos to Lucerne

Davos to Lucerne covers a mere 70 nautical miles, a distance far better suited to a helicopter than any fixed-wing aircraft, and an Airbus H130 makes the crossing in well under half an hour, departing directly from the Davos Mountain Helipad or nearby Engadin Airport rather than requiring a drive to a larger field. For travellers connecting through Zurich Kloten, the same helicopter offers a fast onward leg that skips the winding mountain roads separating the two towns and avoids weather delays common on the passes in winter. Davos, best known internationally for hosting the World Economic Forum each January, sits considerably higher in the Alps than Lucerne, and the short helicopter flight gives passengers a rare low-altitude view of the Grisons mountains before descending toward Lake Lucerne and landing near Buochs Airport. The change in elevation and atmosphere, from Davos’s high alpine air to Lucerne’s milder lakeside climate, is often remarked on by those making the trip for the first time, even over so short a distance, and the drop in altitude alone can be felt within minutes of landing. This route is used heavily during and around major Davos events, when delegates need a fast, weather-flexible way to reach onward meetings or flights in central Switzerland without contending with narrow mountain passes that can close in poor conditions, as well as by travellers extending a ski trip with a few days by the lake, for whom a helicopter transfer turns what would be a three-hour drive into a brief and scenic hop.
