Private Jet Exumas to Bodrum

Private jet travellers linking the Exumas with Bodrum’s Aegean coast cover some 5,162 nautical miles, a sector that crosses the Atlantic before threading down through southern Europe toward the Turkish Riviera. Aircraft such as the Gulfstream G550 or Global 6000 are the natural choice for a crossing of this length, offering the fuel range for a non-stop routing and a cabin pressurised for comfort at cruise altitudes near 45,000 feet, well above the weather that troubles shorter-legged jets. Departure is from Exuma International Airport, gateway to the scattered cays of Great Exuma and Little Exuma, from where the routing climbs north-east over open ocean before making landfall in the Mediterranean. At the far end, Milas-Bodrum Airport serves a peninsula that has long drawn the yachting world to its marinas. Yalikavak Marina, on the northern shore, has become one of the Aegean’s principal berths for superyachts, while the town centre still clusters around the Castle of St Peter, a fortress raised by the Knights Hospitaller from stone quarried at the ruins of the ancient Mausoleum of Halicarnassus nearby. Pine-covered hills run down to a string of bays where beach clubs and family coves sit within a short drive of one another. For owners moving between a Bahamian base and a Turkish summer residence, or charter groups extending a Caribbean sailing trip into an Aegean one, this route offers a single long sector in place of multiple commercial connections, with the aircraft’s range doing the work that would otherwise require a fuel stop. Flight planning for a sector of this length typically weighs prevailing winds carefully, and most operators can complete the westbound leg non-stop with favourable tailwinds, adjusting the routing slightly when winter jet streams run stronger than usual.
