Private Jet Fort Lauderdale to Bodrum

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport serves as the departure point for the 5,240-nautical-mile route to Bodrum, a sector well used by operators moving aircraft and clients between South Florida and the eastern Mediterranean. A Gulfstream G550 or Global 6000 handles the distance comfortably, cruising at altitudes up to 45,000 feet and carrying enough fuel for a confident non-stop crossing across the Atlantic and southern Europe. Fort Lauderdale’s position as one of the busiest private aviation hubs in the country makes it a natural starting point for a route that continues on toward Turkey’s Aegean coast. Bodrum, at the far end of the sector, occupies a peninsula whose harbour has drawn sailors for thousands of years. The Castle of St Peter overlooks the water from a promontory built partly from stone taken from the ruined Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and now houses a museum built around centuries of recovered shipwrecks. South Florida’s own strong yachting culture makes for a fitting counterpart to Bodrum’s marinas at Yalikavak and Turkbuku, both established stops on the eastern Mediterranean’s summer circuit for larger vessels. Fish restaurants and open-air cafes line the harbour front, filling each evening as temperatures ease and the light softens over the bay. This route suits Florida-based owners and charter groups extending their yachting season from the Caribbean and the Bahamas into the Aegean, joining a vessel already on the Turkish coast for the height of summer. Fort Lauderdale’s reputation as a private aviation centre means aircraft positioning and crew availability are rarely a constraint, allowing this route to be scheduled with relatively short notice compared with less-served departure points.
