Private Jet Hammond to Shima

Hammond Northshore Regional Airport, north of Lake Pontchartrain, is a modest regional field from which the Shima Peninsula lies a demanding 6,092 nautical miles distant, one of the longer sectors on this route network. A Gulfstream G650ER or Bombardier Global 7500 suits the distance well, completing the roughly eleven-and-a-half-hour crossing without a fuel stop and cruising up to 51,000 feet across sections of the routing, comfortably clearing the bulk of Pacific weather and commercial traffic sharing the same corridor. Hammond’s proximity to New Orleans gives travellers an easy pre-departure stop for Louisiana hospitality before settling in for a genuinely long overnight sector. Even loaded for a maximum-range sector, the aircraft’s cabin retains enough amenity for passengers to arrive genuinely rested rather than merely delivered. Arrival comes into Chūbu Centrair, built on reclaimed land in Ise Bay to serve Nagoya, Japan’s centre of automotive manufacturing, with the Shima Peninsula reached by a short transfer south. The peninsula falls within Ise-Shima National Park and is anchored by Ise-Jingu, the most revered shrine in Shinto, its buildings ceremonially rebuilt every twenty years in a tradition stretching back over a millennium. Ago Bay’s sheltered inlets have sustained pearl cultivation since Kokichi Mikimoto’s breakthrough here in the 1890s, and the region’s ama divers, almost entirely women, continue harvesting shellfish and seaweed by free-diving, much as they have for generations. Kashikojima’s ryokan overlook the bay’s pearl rafts, offering a quieter counterpoint to the working fishing villages nearby. Travellers from Louisiana’s northshore undertaking this crossing tend to be extending a wider Asia-Pacific itinerary, drawn by the contrast between the bayou and one of Japan’s most tradition-rich coastal peninsulas.
