Helicopter Transfer Irvine to Fontana

John Wayne Airport, serving Orange County’s master-planned city of Irvine, sits just 35 nautical miles from Fontana, a distance so short that a helicopter such as the Airbus H130 is the practical choice for the crossing, taking only minutes to cover ground that would otherwise mean well over an hour by car through Southern California traffic. Irvine itself, built almost entirely from a single master plan starting in the 1960s, has grown into one of the largest planned communities in the country, anchored by the University of California, Irvine and a cluster of technology and biotech employers. Fontana, at the other end of this brief hop, presents an economy shaped by an entirely different history: the Kaiser Steel plant that once employed thousands during the Second World War has given way to the logistics and distribution centres that now line the valley floor beneath the San Bernardino Mountains. Given the short distance, this route functions almost like a regional shuttle for executives and logistics personnel moving between Orange County’s technology corridor and the Inland Empire’s distribution networks, comfortably supporting multiple trips in a single day when business requires it. Orange County’s Great Park, built on the site of the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, continues to add sports fields, trails and cultural venues to what was once a military airfield, mirroring in miniature the kind of land-use transformation seen across much of Southern California. Irvine’s crime rate, consistently among the lowest of any city its size in the country, has become a frequently cited selling point for families relocating from more congested parts of the region.
