Private Jet Martha’s Vineyard to Porto Heli

Martha’s Vineyard Airport, tucked among the island’s scrub oak and known for the steady stream of private aircraft it handles each August, marks the start of a 4,136 nautical mile journey to Porto Heli in Greece. A Gulfstream G550 or Dassault Falcon 8X manages the distance comfortably, each offering a cabin with the space and pressurisation to keep a long transatlantic sector genuinely comfortable, and cruise altitudes near 45,000 feet help both aircraft make the most of favourable winds when they are available. On the Greek side, passengers arrive at a resort town that has grown up quietly around its marina rather than around any single landmark, with hilltop properties such as Amanzoe overlooking a gulf still calm enough for early morning swims well into September. History is close at hand too, with the ancient theatre of Epidaurus and the fortress town of Nafplio both within reach of a short onward drive for guests who want more than beach and boat. Martha’s Vineyard’s low-key, old-money character, all weathered shingle and quiet lanes, translates surprisingly well to the Argolic Gulf’s own preference for understatement over spectacle, and it is precisely that shared sensibility that draws a similar clientele to both. This route particularly suits travellers who split a year between a Vineyard summer and a later Mediterranean season, valuing a direct sector over the inconvenience of connecting through Boston or Athens. Given the considerable distance involved, an operator with genuine transatlantic experience is essential, both for routing decisions around the jet stream and for managing the more limited ground infrastructure typical of a small island airport at the point of departure.
