Helicopter Transfer Mesa to Tempe

Separated by barely nine nautical miles, Mesa and Tempe sit close enough that a helicopter is often the most sensible way to cover the ground, and the Airbus H130 handles the short hop in well under ten minutes, lifting off from Mesa Gateway Airport and tracking low over the valley’s grid of highways rather than joining it. Mesa Gateway, a former Air Force base turned busy general aviation and commercial field, offers straightforward helicopter access away from the congestion of the Valley’s larger airports, making it a popular starting point for short repositioning flights across the metropolitan area. Setting down close to central Tempe bypasses what can be a slow crawl along Phoenix’s surface streets during peak hours, delivering passengers directly to the edge of Arizona State University’s campus or the restaurants lining Tempe Town Lake with none of the delay that ground transport between the two cities can involve. The valley below is unmistakably Sonoran Desert, its grid of suburban development interrupted by the occasional rocky butte and, further south, the long ridgeline of South Mountain. This short transfer suits business travellers moving between meetings in Mesa’s growing aerospace and manufacturing base and appointments in Tempe’s university and technology district, as well as event-goers wanting to avoid parking and traffic around a stadium concert or graduation weekend at ASU. For a distance this short, the helicopter’s door-to-door convenience, rather than outright speed, is really the point, turning what would be a twenty-minute drive into a brief and scenic lift over the Valley of the Sun, with none of the fuel stops or runway queues that even the shortest fixed-wing flight would otherwise require.
