Private Jet Montauk to Fontana

Montauk and Fontana lie approximately 2,181 nautical miles apart, one of the longer domestic sectors on this list and one that calls for a mid-size jet with solid transcontinental range. The Hawker 800XP and Citation XLS+ both regularly cover this leg, their cabin comfort suited to a flight of around four hours spanning the full breadth of the country from the tip of Long Island to Southern California. Cruising near 45,000 feet keeps the aircraft above most weather systems along the route, an important consideration given how much of the continent the flight crosses. Departure from Montauk Airport offers passengers a small, low-key general aviation field at the eastern end of Long Island, a favourite among Hamptons and East End travellers looking to avoid the drive and traffic back toward New York City’s larger airports. The flight crosses the Appalachians, the Midwest and the Rocky Mountains before descending into Fontana, part of San Bernardino County’s Inland Empire roughly fifty miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The city’s Auto Club Speedway anchors its motorsport reputation, while its logistics sector has grown considerably on land once tied to the Kaiser Steel works. This long-haul pairing particularly suits East End residents and summer visitors travelling to Southern California for business or racing events, valuing the ability to depart directly from Montauk rather than making the drive back toward the city first, saving substantial time at the start of an already long journey and avoiding the summer weekend congestion on the roads leading off the island.
