Private Jet Proserpine to Cavallo

Proserpine’s Whitsunday Coast Airport, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, sits about as far from Corsica as any commercial airfield in the world, making the roughly 8,400 nautical mile journey to Cavallo one of genuine scale. A sector this long exceeds the non-stop range of even the most capable purpose-built business jets, so operators typically turn to an executive airliner such as a converted Airbus ACJ or Boeing BBJ, which combine airline-grade range with a private cabin, usually routing through the Middle East or South Asia for a technical stop to refuel and allow the crew their required rest. Cavallo, in Corsica’s Lavezzi archipelago, has no runway of its own, so the final approach is via Figari-Sud Corse followed by a short onward transfer to the island itself. What awaits at the end of such a long journey is a landscape built around restraint: no cars, narrow paths between private villas, and pink granite framing water of extraordinary clarity, all overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio towards Sardinia. Nearby Bonifacio, its citadel perched on limestone cliffs above an old harbour, offers an easy change of pace once settled. Coming from the tropical Whitsundays, travellers will trade coral reef and rainforest for Mediterranean granite and a distinctly different, quieter kind of exclusivity. This route suits guests planning a substantial stay to justify the distance, with the executive airliner’s cabin designed to make even a journey spanning much of the globe feel manageable rather than gruelling. Given the scale of the undertaking, careful pre-planning around fuel stops, crew duty limits and overflight permissions is essential, and experienced operators typically begin coordinating these details weeks ahead of departure.
