Private Jet Salt Lake City to Costa Navarino

Few charter routes span such contrasting landscapes as the one linking the Wasatch Range to the olive groves of the southern Peloponnese. Salt Lake City International Airport, set at the foot of the mountains that built the city’s reputation for skiing, lies some 5,492 nautical miles from Kalamata International Airport, gateway to the Costa Navarino resort on Greece’s Messinian coast. A crossing of this length calls for an ultra-long-range aircraft such as the Gulfstream G650ER or Bombardier Global 7500, both able to cover the distance without a technical stop while cruising above 45,000 feet, clear of most commercial traffic and weather. Cabins on these aircraft are built precisely for journeys of this scale, offering fully flat sleeping berths, private staterooms and galleys provisioned for a transatlantic-length flight, so arrival feels like the start of a holiday rather than the end of an ordeal. Kalamata, the regional capital, lends its name to the plump purple olives sold across the world, and its old town, hillside castle and seafront promenade are worth a look before continuing south to the resort proper. Costa Navarino stretches along Navarino Bay, its two hotels and pair of championship golf courses laid out among pine-covered hills that descend to some of the clearest water in the Ionian Sea. History runs deep here too: the bay hosted the decisive 1827 naval battle that helped secure Greek independence, and the ruins of Ancient Messene lie a short drive inland. For Salt Lake City passengers used to alpine scenery, the shift to sea, stone and centuries of layered history makes for a genuinely different kind of escape, one the ultra-long-range cabin experience allows them to begin resting for from the moment the wheels leave the ground.
