Private Jet Santiago to Ashgabat

Santiago’s Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Andes, marks the start of an extraordinary 8,342 nautical mile journey to Ashgabat, a crossing of roughly fifteen and three-quarter hours that calls for an executive airliner given the distance involved, typically routing with a technical fuel stop somewhere across the Gulf. Chile’s capital, wedged between the Andes and the Coastal Range in a long, narrow valley, has grown into one of South America’s more prosperous and orderly cities, a trait that finds an unexpected echo in Ashgabat, another capital built with careful, top down planning rather than organic sprawl. Ashgabat’s white marble government buildings, recognised by Guinness World Records for their density across the capital, present a formality on an altogether different scale from Santiago’s mix of colonial era plazas and modern glass towers. Ashgabat International Airport’s falcon shaped terminal roof offers arriving guests a striking architectural statement after such a long journey, continuing through the gold domed Arch of Neutrality and the fountains that punctuate the city centre. Natural gas wealth underwrites this transformation, a theme that carries some resonance for travellers from Chile’s own substantial mining driven economy. The Karakum Desert beyond Ashgabat, home to the long burning Darvaza gas crater, offers a further point of contrast to the fertile valleys surrounding the Chilean capital. This route suits genuinely committed diplomatic and business travellers, with a well configured executive airliner making the marathon crossing between two mountain and desert framed capitals comfortable throughout. Travellers who spend a morning in the vineyards of the nearby Maipo Valley before departure will find Ashgabat’s own approach to grandeur expressed in marble and monuments rather than terraced hillsides and cellar doors.
