Private Jet Shima to Serengeti

Shima to Serengeti is one of the longer pairings on the network, spanning around 6,074 nautical miles and roughly eleven and a half hours across the Indian Ocean and the length of East Africa. Only an ultra-long-range aircraft is realistic for a sector of this scale, with the Gulfstream G650ER or Bombardier Global 7500 both able to complete the crossing without a technical stop, cruising near 45,000 feet above most weather and offering cabins built for genuine rest across such an extended flight. Chūbu Centrair, serving the Shima and wider Ise-Shima region of Japan, provides efficient business aviation handling for a long-haul departure of this scale. Arrival into Seronera Airstrip delivers guests directly into the Serengeti’s open plains, home to the great wildebeest migration and to some of the highest concentrations of large mammals found anywhere on earth. The transition from Japan’s coastal Ise-Shima region, known for its pearl cultivation and Shinto shrines, to the vast grassland of northern Tanzania is among the more dramatic changes of scenery private aviation can offer. Japanese travellers seeking a genuine African safari without the multiple connections a scheduled itinerary would demand find this pairing increasingly appealing, despite there being no direct commercial routing whatsoever. Flown non-stop, the eleven-and-a-half-hour crossing becomes a single overnight flight, with passengers able to sleep for much of the journey and land ready for an afternoon in the field. Given the scale of the crossing, most operators plan the Shima departure well in advance to secure a daylight landing at Seronera, both for safety on the unpaved strip and so guests can head straight into the bush rather than waiting overnight at the lodge. The sector reflects the steadily growing Japanese appetite for East African safari travel, with this kind of direct, non-stop crossing increasingly preferred over a fragmented routing through the Gulf.
