Private Jet Telluride to Cavallo

Telluride to Cavallo spans roughly 4,936 nautical miles, a substantial transatlantic sector for which a heavy business jet such as the Gulfstream G550 or Bombardier Global 6000 is the sensible choice, offering the range for a non-stop crossing while cruising near 45,000 feet for much of the flight, above the weather typically encountered over the Rockies, the continent and the Atlantic in turn. Telluride Regional Airport, one of the highest-elevation commercial airports in the country and a well-known gateway for Colorado’s mountain resort community, is the point of departure, with the routing tracking broadly north-east across the continent and the ocean before descending towards Corsica’s southern tip. Cavallo, the destination, forms part of the Lavezzi archipelago, a cluster of granite islets between Corsica and Sardinia divided by the Bonifacio Strait, and has no runway of its own, so arrival is completed by helicopter from Figari-Sud Corse to the island’s private helistrip. Telluride’s dramatic box-canyon setting gives its regular visitors a strong appreciation for landscape shaped by natural forces over millennia, a quality Cavallo shares through its own wind-and-sea-carved granite, albeit at sea level rather than nine thousand feet. For those departing Telluride, the roughly nine-and-a-half-hour flight is a considerable but comfortable transatlantic journey, and the heavy jet’s cabin, with proper rest facilities, keeps the long crossing genuinely restful rather than tiring, delivering mountain-season regulars to an entirely different kind of seasonal retreat. Telluride’s short summer season means many mountain-town regulars plan their Cavallo trip well in advance, timing the crossing to bridge the gap between the end of hiking season at home and the start of the Mediterranean’s own autumn calm.
