Private Jet Tunis to Cavallo

Tunis to Cavallo is a short regional hop of about 278 nautical miles, comfortably covered by a very light jet such as the Embraer Phenom 100, departing directly from Tunis-Carthage International Airport on Tunisia’s northern coast. At this distance the flight takes under an hour, cruising well above 30,000 feet for a swift, efficient crossing of the narrow stretch of Mediterranean separating North Africa from Corsica. Cavallo, the destination, forms part of the Lavezzi archipelago, a scatter of granite islands within the Bonifacio Strait between Corsica and Sardinia. Tunis offers a blend of ancient ruins and coastal medina, while Cavallo presents something altogether quieter, a Mediterranean island with no roads or vehicles, only sandy footpaths connecting a handful of villas tucked among maritime pines. Strong currents through the strait keep the surrounding sea remarkably clear, a quality that has long drawn sailors and helped the island earn a discreet, largely European following. Development has been kept deliberately minimal for decades, with owners favouring preservation of the granite landscape over any expansion of visitor capacity. There is no commercial centre here, just villa terraces overlooking the water and the occasional yacht anchored offshore. For travellers already exploring North Africa’s Mediterranean coast, the short hop to Cavallo makes for an easy and worthwhile addition, pairing Tunis’s historical depth with a few unhurried days of sailing and swimming on a genuinely secluded island. Even a short stay allows time for a swim, an afternoon sail toward a neighbouring cove, and a slow dinner on a villa terrace as evening settles in.
