Private Jet Valparaíso to Ashgabat

Valparaíso Airport, serving Chile’s historic Pacific port city, sits an extraordinary 8,378 nautical miles from Ashgabat, one of the longest sectors on the entire network and a journey of roughly sixteen hours that requires an executive airliner and, in most cases, a technical fuel stop somewhere across the Middle East or South Asia. Valparaíso’s steep, colourful hillsides, its funiculars and UNESCO listed old town, give this departure a bohemian, artistic character that stands in complete contrast to Ashgabat’s formal, ceremonial atmosphere on arrival. Ashgabat holds a Guinness World Record for its density of white marble buildings, a fact immediately apparent from the moment travellers land at Ashgabat International Airport, its terminal roof swept into the shape of a falcon in flight. The gold domed Arch of Neutrality and the many fountains that punctuate the city centre continue a theme of monumental scale that has no real equivalent along Chile’s rugged Pacific coastline. Turkmenistan’s substantial natural gas reserves have funded this transformation, a theme that carries a certain resonance for travellers from Chile’s own resource rich, mining driven economy, even if the specific commodities differ considerably. The Karakum Desert beyond the capital, home to the long burning Darvaza gas crater, offers a final point of contrast to the Pacific swells that define Valparaíso’s working harbour. This route suits only the most committed diplomatic or business travellers, with a well appointed executive airliner making a genuinely epic crossing as comfortable as such a distance allows. Travellers who spend a morning riding the city’s historic funiculars or wandering its street art covered alleyways before departure will find nothing remotely comparable awaiting them in Ashgabat, a city that favours order and symmetry over spontaneity and colour.
