Private Jet Wellington to Cavallo

Wellington International Airport sits close to the antipodal point from Corsica, making the roughly 10,160 nautical mile journey to Cavallo one of the longest private aviation routings anywhere in the world. No business jet can cover this distance non-stop, so an executive airliner, typically a converted Airbus ACJ or Boeing BBJ, is the only realistic choice, offering airline-grade range with a private cabin and generally requiring at least one technical stop, often in the Middle East or Asia, for fuel and mandatory crew rest. Cavallo, within Corsica’s Lavezzi archipelago, has no runway of its own, so the final leg runs via Figari-Sud Corse and a short onward transfer to the island itself. After a journey spanning nearly half the globe, what awaits is deliberately understated: no cars, narrow paths between a handful of private villas, and pink granite framing water of extraordinary clarity, all overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio towards Sardinia. The nearby citadel of Bonifacio, its buildings stacked along dramatic limestone cliffs above an old harbour, offers an easy change of pace once settled. Coming from Wellington’s hilly, wind-swept harbour setting, travellers arrive somewhere calmer in almost every respect. This route suits guests undertaking a genuinely global itinerary, for whom a stop at Cavallo forms part of a much larger circuit, with the executive airliner’s cabin built to make such an extensive crossing as comfortable as the distance allows. Given the scale of the undertaking, meticulous planning around overflight permissions, fuel stops and crew duty limits is essential, and experienced operators typically begin coordinating these details many weeks ahead of departure.
