Private Jet Timphou to Tempe

Flying between Thimphu and Tempe means covering close to 6,952 nautical miles across the Himalayas, the Pacific and the American Southwest in a single sector, a distance that rules out anything short of an ultra-long-range aircraft. The Gulfstream G650ER and Bombardier Global 7500 both have the legs for it, each certified to cruise efficiently at altitudes approaching 51,000 feet and each built around a cabin designed to keep passengers comfortable through a flight that typically runs well past thirteen hours. The journey begins at Paro International Airport, one of the most dramatic airfields anywhere in the world, tucked into a steep Himalayan valley at an elevation that demands specially trained crews for the approach and departure alone, with mountain peaks rising close on either side of the runway. Arrival is at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, serving Tempe, a city defined by its desert setting on the banks of Tempe Town Lake and by the presence of Arizona State University, whose tens of thousands of students give the area a distinctly collegiate, fast-moving character compared with much of the wider Phoenix Valley. The contrast between Bhutan’s forested mountain kingdom, where development is deliberately measured against a national philosophy of wellbeing, and Arizona’s cactus-studded flatlands is about as stark as any route in the network offers. Given the operational demands at the Paro end and the sheer length of the sector, this pairing suits seasoned long-haul travellers, diplomatic missions and high-net-worth adventurers bridging one of the world’s most remote capitals with the technology and research hub steadily taking shape around Tempe and greater Phoenix.
