Santorini is the southernmost of the main Cyclades, a crescent of volcanic cliffs around a flooded caldera. Its cliff-top villages of Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia look west across the water, and the sunsets over the caldera are the island’s main ritual. Cave hotels and private villas with infinity pools are cut into the rock, and many of the best addresses sit on the stretch between Imerovigli and Oia. Beyond the caldera rim, visitors explore the Bronze Age site of Akrotiri, the black-sand beaches of Kamari and Perissa, and the island’s wineries, known for the Assyrtiko grape. Catamarans and yachts sail from Vlychada and Ammoudi Bay. The season runs from April to October.
Santorini International Airport (JTR) lies on the east coast near Kamari, about 6 km south-east of Fira, so most hotels are within 20 to 30 minutes by road. The airport is small and very busy in summer, with a compact apron, so aircraft parking and arrival times must be arranged in advance; a private jet may sometimes drop passengers and reposition to a larger airport such as Athens. Flying privately avoids the long connection through Athens and the queues of peak season. Flight times to Santorini are around 50 minutes from Athens, around 2 hours 45 minutes from Geneva and around 3 hours 30 minutes from London. The Jet Collection plans the slot and parking, arranges handling and coordinates the drive to your hotel or a boat waiting in the caldera.
