Narita International Airport (NRT) is Tokyo’s main long-haul gateway, located in Chiba Prefecture about 60 km east of central Tokyo. It has two parallel runways: 16R/34L at 4,000 metres (13,123 feet) and 16L/34R at 2,500 metres (8,202 feet). The airport sits at an elevation of 135 feet (41 metres) at coordinates 35.7653° N, 140.3856° E. A third runway, of 3,500 metres, is planned.
For private aviation, Narita’s long main runway suits every business jet, including ultra-long-range types flying non-stop from Europe, the Gulf or North America. A night curfew applies, with no aircraft operations between midnight and 6 a.m., so arrival times need planning, particularly on long sectors where delays can push a flight past the cut-off. Capacity is managed and slots should be requested early in busy periods. The drive into central Tokyo typically takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on traffic, and Narita is also convenient for golf resorts in Chiba and the Boso peninsula. For travellers bound for central Tokyo, Haneda is often the alternative. The Jet Collection compares both airports for each trip, secures slots and handling, and arranges cars into the city.
