Eindhoven is the centre of Brainport, one of Europe’s most concentrated high-tech regions. ASML, the maker of the lithography machines that the global chip industry depends on, has its headquarters in neighbouring Veldhoven, and Philips was founded in the city and shaped it for a century. The High Tech Campus, NXP, DAF Trucks and a dense network of suppliers in precision mechanics, optics and software bring engineers, investors and customers from around the world, and Eindhoven University of Technology keeps the pipeline of talent full. The former Philips factories at Strijp-S are now offices, studios and restaurants, Dutch Design Week fills the city each October, and PSV plays at the Philips Stadion.
Private aviation is useful here because Eindhoven’s business is international and time-sensitive. Eindhoven Airport (EIN), about 7.6 km west of the city and a short drive from Veldhoven, is a joint civil and military airfield with a 3,000-metre runway. Civil business aviation access is restricted and has changed recently, so each flight needs confirming in advance; Rotterdam and Antwerp serve as alternatives. Flight times are around 1 hour 10 minutes from London, around 1 hour 5 minutes from Paris and about 1 hour 15 minutes from Munich. The Jet Collection checks current access at Eindhoven before quoting, proposes the best alternative when needed and arranges the ground transfer to the campus or the client’s site.
