Nagoya sits at the centre of Japan’s manufacturing heartland. Toyota’s headquarters is in Toyota City to the east, and the Chubu region around it is home to a deep supply chain of automotive, aerospace, machine tool and ceramics companies. Engineers, suppliers and investors come for plant visits, supplier audits and technical meetings, and the city’s location halfway between Tokyo and Osaka makes it a practical base for a wider Japan itinerary. Central Nagoya is compact: the business core runs from Nagoya Station’s towers to Sakae, with Nagoya Castle and the Atsuta Shrine close by. The Toyota Commemorative Museum and the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park reward an afternoon, and the onsen towns of Gifu and the Ise peninsula are within reach.
Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) is the main gateway, built on an artificial island in Ise Bay about 35 km south of the city centre and open around the clock. A private flight from Tokyo takes around 1 hour, from Seoul about 2 hours and from Shanghai around 2 hours 30 minutes. Flying privately is particularly useful when a visit involves several plants or suppliers spread across the region, or when Nagoya is one leg of a multi-city day. Centrair’s location makes onward transfers straightforward, with an expressway and rail link into the city. The Jet Collection books the right aircraft for the sector, arranges handling and customs at Centrair, and organises cars to Toyota City or central Nagoya.
