Tangier stands at the meeting point of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, 14 km across the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain. Its medina, kasbah and seafront hotels have drawn writers and artists for a century, and the city has grown into a modern business centre around the Tanger Med port. Private jets land at Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport, a short drive from the centre. The flight from Malaga, Marbella or Gibraltar is under 30 minutes, Paris and London are around three hours away, and the airport is a practical starting point for the Atlantic coast at Asilah or the blue town of Chefchaouen.
