Turin is the industrial capital of north-west Italy. The city built the Italian car industry, and Fiat’s former Lingotto factory, now a congress and exhibition centre, still symbolises it. Aerospace is a major employer, with space systems and military aircraft built in and around the city, and Turin is home to the headquarters of Intesa Sanpaolo and Lavazza. The Politecnico di Torino supports a large engineering and automotive design community. Turin also draws visitors for the Egyptian Museum, its baroque piazzas and cafés, and Terra Madre Salone del Gusto. The Langhe wine country lies to the south, and the ski resorts of the Via Lattea are around 1 hour 30 minutes by road.
Private flights make sense for Turin, which has fewer airline links than Milan. Turin Airport (TRN) lies at Caselle Torinese, about 16 km north-north-west of the centre, with a single 3,300-metre runway, a general aviation terminal and road access to the city in around 25 minutes. In winter it also serves skiers heading to Sestriere and the French resorts across the border. Typical flight times are around 1 hour 55 minutes from London, around 1 hour 20 minutes from Paris and about 1 hour 10 minutes from Rome. The Jet Collection can link a factory visit in Turin with a weekend in the Langhe or the mountains, choosing the right aircraft and organising cars at both ends.
