Private Jet Abacos to Augusta

The Abacos to Augusta sector runs 504 nautical miles, comfortably within range of a Pilatus PC-12 or Phenom 300, both suited to Leonard M. Thompson International Airport’s regional-scale runway and covering the distance in around an hour. Marsh Harbour, the Abacos’ main town, has rebuilt steadily in recent years and remains a favoured base for sailing and sport fishing across this northern stretch of the Bahamian chain. Arrival at Augusta Regional Airport offers an easy, uncongested entry point for a city whose international fame centres on the Masters Tournament each spring. Outside tournament week, Augusta’s riverside historic district and growing research economy give the city plenty of its own appeal. This short corridor carries a steady mix of boating enthusiasts, second-home owners and business travellers moving between the Abacos’ tourism economy and partners across the Southeast. A turboprop or light jet handles the sector with ease, and the modest flight time means the route is frequently flown as a same-day trip, aircraft and crew returning home the same evening rather than remaining on the island overnight. The Abacos’ position as one of the more accessible out-island destinations in the Bahamas, closer to the Florida coast than many of its neighbours, keeps private charter demand on this corridor consistently healthy throughout the year, with a noticeable lift during the winter boating season when marinas across the chain fill with visiting yachts. The Abacos’ recovery following Hurricane Dorian has been closely watched across the Bahamian tourism industry, and the steady return of marinas, lodges and private aviation infrastructure has been a welcome sign for a chain long favoured by sailors.
