Private Jet Abacos to Modesto

Spanning around 2,312 nautical miles, the journey from the Abacos in the Bahamas to Modesto in California’s Central Valley suits either a mid-size jet such as the Challenger 350 or, for a faster and more spacious crossing, a super mid-size Gulfstream G280, both able to cover the distance without a fuel stop under normal conditions. Departing Leonard M. Thompson International Airport on Great Abaco, travellers leave an island chain famous among sailors for its calm Sea of Abaco waters, its candy-striped Elbow Cay lighthouse at Hope Town, and a strong Loyalist heritage reflected in the clapboard architecture of its settlements. Cruising near 41,000 feet, either aircraft type keeps well above the weather systems that regularly build over the Bahamas and the Gulf of Mexico during the warmer months, contributing to a steadier ride for the several hours of flying involved. Landing at Modesto City-County Airport brings travellers into the agricultural core of Stanislaus County, where almond orchards stretch across the valley floor and dairy operations rank among the most productive in the country. Modesto’s Graffiti Summer festival, held each June in tribute to native son George Lucas and his film American Graffiti, draws classic car enthusiasts from across the state, while the historic McHenry Mansion offers a window into the city’s nineteenth century origins. Yosemite National Park lies roughly ninety minutes to the east. This route particularly suits boating families who winter in the Abacos and maintain agricultural, wine or real estate interests in Northern California, for whom a direct private crossing removes the need to route through Nassau or a major mainland hub.
