Private Jet Abacos to Oxnard

The Abacos and Oxnard lie approximately 2,216 nautical miles apart, a distance a mid-size or super-mid-size jet covers from Leonard M. Thompson International Airport in around four and a quarter hours, cruising at altitudes up to 45,000 feet above the Bahamian shallows before crossing the Gulf of Mexico and the American Southwest towards the Pacific coast. Oxnard, on arrival, is a working Ventura County coastal city best known as the gateway to Channel Islands National Park, reached by boat from Channel Islands Harbor. The surrounding Oxnard Plain remains one of California’s most productive farming regions, strawberries and lemons grown almost to the beach, and the city’s shoreline offers a quieter counterpart to the Abacos’ well-known sailing waters and pastel-painted settlements such as Hope Town. Santa Barbara’s wine country lies within an hour’s drive for those continuing on. Sailing families and second-home owners based in the Abacos frequently use this route to reach business or leisure destinations across Southern California, favouring Oxnard’s small terminal over the scale of Los Angeles International. For those extending their stay, a Channel Islands excursion offers a different but comparably rewarding day on the water to a morning spent among the Abacos’ own cays, and most build in a day either side of the flight to make the most of both coastlines. Many travellers describe the contrast between the two coastlines as part of the appeal, rather than simply an inconvenience to be endured along the way. From the airport, a brief drive is all that separates arriving passengers from the harbour, the beach, or the road north towards Santa Barbara.
