Private Jet Amalfi to Shima

From the Amalfi Coast to Shima is a journey of approximately 5,292 nautical miles, connecting two of the world’s most storied coastlines by way of the Middle East and Asia. A Gulfstream G550 handles the distance well, typically flying the route in around ten hours, with a cabin that keeps equivalent altitude low throughout for a noticeably fresher arrival despite the length of the sector. Departures use Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport or Naples International Airport, both well equipped for private aviation traffic leaving the coast, before the aircraft climbs toward cruise altitudes near 45,000 feet, above the weather that affects lower-flying traffic. Shima lies within Ise-Shima National Park on Japan’s Kii Peninsula, a coastline of forested islets and sheltered inlets that rewards comparison, however loose, with the terraced cliffs of Amalfi itself. Ago Bay has been the centre of cultured pearl farming since Kokichi Mikimoto’s pioneering work there, and the industry remains genuinely active. A short drive inland, Ise Grand Shrine is Shinto’s most sacred site, rebuilt every twenty years in a tradition unbroken for centuries, a prominence that helped bring the 2016 G7 summit to the region. Kashikojima’s harbour serves excellent seafood, particularly ise-ebi spiny lobster and locally harvested abalone. This route suits travellers pairing an Italian coastal stay with an entirely different, quieter register of maritime luxury in Japan, arriving in genuine comfort after a long but well-managed crossing. Travellers extending their journey inland can reach the forested Kumano pilgrimage routes and traditional ryokan towns of the wider Kii Peninsula, adding real depth to a trip built around the coastline of Ago Bay.
