Private Jet Anchorage to Gilbert

The 2,225 nautical mile route from Anchorage to Gilbert carries travellers from Southcentral Alaska’s cool, mountain-ringed setting to the dry heat of the Sonoran Desert, a genuine change of climate covered comfortably by a super mid-size jet such as the Challenger 350 or, for larger groups, a heavy jet like the Gulfstream G550, both cruising near 41,000 to 43,000 feet across the Pacific Northwest and the Rockies. Departing Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, with the Chugach Mountains receding behind and Cook Inlet’s dramatic tides visible on climb-out, the flight tracks south over increasingly arid terrain before descending into Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, east of Phoenix in the town of Gilbert. Arizona’s East Valley offers an entirely different kind of scenery from Alaska’s glaciers and spruce forest: saguaro cacti stand sentinel across the Sonoran Desert, and the Superstition Mountains rise to the east, a favourite for hikers once the worst of the summer heat has passed. Gilbert and its neighbouring communities have become known for golf, spring training baseball at the Cactus League’s stadiums, and a fast-growing culinary scene built around Southwestern flavours. Alaskan travellers heading south often do so to escape the depths of winter, trading snow and short daylight hours for reliable sunshine and warm evenings. The route also suits energy and resource-sector executives with interests spanning both states, for whom a direct private sector saves a considerable detour through a major connecting hub. Late autumn through spring is the most comfortable season for a Gilbert arrival, before the desert heat of high summer sets in.
