Private Jet Aspen to Gibraltar

Aspen to Gibraltar covers 4,545 nautical miles, a genuine transatlantic crossing from Colorado’s high mountain resort to the historic Rock at the mouth of the Mediterranean. A heavy jet such as the Gulfstream G550 or G650 is the natural choice for this sector, offering the range and cabin comfort needed for a flight that typically runs eight and a half to nine hours. Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, one of the more demanding fields in North America given its elevation and surrounding terrain, is well served by operators experienced in high-altitude departures, and once airborne the aircraft climbs to a cruise near 45,000 feet for the long ocean crossing. That altitude helps keep the flight ahead of the worst Atlantic weather while making efficient use of fuel over such a distance. Arrival into Gibraltar International Airport is a dramatic close to the journey, the runway occupying a narrow strip between the Bay of Algeciras and the Rock’s sheer north face, with the town’s main road crossing the tarmac itself for every movement. From the terminal, Gibraltar’s old town, cable car station and harbour promenade sit within easy walking distance. This pairing of two dramatically different landscapes, Aspen’s alpine peaks and Gibraltar’s maritime gateway, appeals to travellers splitting their year between a mountain base and a Mediterranean one, with Marbella and Sotogrande both within about ninety minutes of the border for those extending their stay. Ronda’s dramatic gorge and Seville’s historic centre both make a worthwhile half-day round trip for those extending the stay further.
