Private Jet Athens to Anchorage

Athens International Airport is the departure point for this 4,849 nautical mile route to Anchorage, one of the longer sectors The Jet Collection arranges out of the eastern Mediterranean, and one that calls for an ultra-long-range aircraft such as the Gulfstream G650ER or Global 7500, both capable of the non-stop crossing while cruising near 45,000 feet across the North Atlantic, Greenland and the Canadian Arctic. Greece’s classical heritage, stretching back nearly three millennia, sits in sharp contrast to Anchorage, a city that did not exist before the railroad reached it in 1915, yet both places share a deep connection to the sea: where Athenian shipping built fortunes across the Aegean, Anchorage’s port today moves a significant share of Alaska’s freight through the extreme tides of Cook Inlet. Arrival into Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport brings the Chugach Mountains into immediate view, rising behind the runway. Most travellers continue onward from here, whether by the Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park or by floatplane from operators based at Lake Hood into the glaciers of Prince William Sound. Given the considerable distance, itineraries on this route typically run to a week or more, allowing time for salmon fishing on the Kenai Peninsula, bear viewing along the coast, and glacier touring before departure. Greek shipping and shipowning families, already accustomed to long-haul private travel, occasionally add Alaska to a broader itinerary as a genuinely different kind of wilderness experience. The long daylight hours of the Alaskan summer, echoing the extended Mediterranean evenings familiar to Athenian travellers, suit these plans particularly well, while a winter charter brings the considerable reward of the aurora borealis over Cook Inlet.
