Private Jet Butte to Bora Bora

Few private aviation itineraries span quite as dramatically as Butte to Bora Bora, a crossing of approximately 4319 nautical miles, and it rewards travellers who value both discretion and comfort over many hours aloft, rather than simply the shortest possible schedule. Given the remoteness of French Polynesia, careful flight planning around fuel reserves and diversion airports is a routine part of any charter of this length. Selecting the right airframe matters enormously on this crossing, and a Gulfstream G550 answers the brief, offering the fuel reserves to complete the crossing with a healthy margin, together with a cabin designed for extended sitting, meeting rooms doubling as rest areas on the longer sectors. Route planning of this kind is a specialist undertaking, factoring in prevailing winds, alternate airports and the realities of operating so far from major maintenance bases. Departures typically operate from Bert Mooney Airport, which handles this class of long-range private charter comfortably. Bora Bora’s lagoon, sheltered by its reef, offers some of the calmest and clearest waters in French Polynesia, ideal for outrigger canoe excursions and paddleboarding. Bora Bora is dominated by the jagged silhouette of Mount Otemanu, rising from a lagoon prized for its extraordinary clarity and shifting shades of blue. Black pearl farming remains a significant local industry, and visits to pearl farms are a popular excursion for guests staying on the main island. This is a journey best suited to those celebrating a significant occasion, for whom the extra comfort of private travel is very much part of the appeal. Onward transfers from Bora Bora’s airport motu to the main island are made by boat, a short crossing that offers an early glimpse of the lagoon’s colour.
