Private Jet Calgary to Gibraltar

Calgary and Gibraltar are separated by 4,380 nautical miles, a distance calling for a heavy business jet or executive airliner, the Gulfstream G650ER a natural choice, cruising near 45,000 feet for a crossing of around eight and a half hours. Calgary International Airport serves Alberta’s energy capital, a city at the foot of the Rocky Mountains built largely on oil and gas wealth, and now home to one of Canada’s busiest private aviation terminals. The route heads northeast before tracking across the Atlantic and into southern Europe, arriving at Gibraltar International Airport, its runway crossing the road to Spain in one of the continent’s more theatrical final approaches. Calgary’s downtown skyline and its Rocky Mountain backdrop give way, eight and a half hours later, to Gibraltar’s fortified limestone character, the Great Siege Tunnels, wild Barbary macaques and a harbour with three centuries of British naval history behind it. The Spanish border and Costa del Sol lie just minutes from the terminal for onward travel. This sector suits energy sector executives whose business spans Alberta’s oil and gas industry and the financial hubs of the western Mediterranean, for whom the discretion and flexibility of a direct private flight across this considerable distance considerably outweighs the multiple connections any commercial alternative would otherwise require. Calgary’s Stampede season and its status as headquarters for much of Canada’s oil and gas sector also mean this corridor sees particularly heavy executive traffic each summer, with operators generally advising early booking given the seasonal spike in demand for long range private charter out of the city.
