Private Jet Capri to Chula Vista

Journeys between Capri and Chula Vista begin unusually for an ultra-long-range route: at Capri Heliport, perched above the cliffs that plunge into the Tyrrhenian Sea near the island’s famous Faraglioni rock stacks. From there, passengers typically continue by a short transfer before boarding the aircraft that will carry them the remaining distance of the 5,657-nautical-mile sector to Chula Vista, a routing shaped by Capri’s lack of a runway long enough for larger jets. The island itself needs little introduction: the Blue Grotto’s shifting turquoise light, the boutiques of the Piazzetta and the scent of lemon groves have drawn visitors since Roman emperors first built villas along its cliffs two thousand years ago. A crossing of this length is comfortably within reach of a Gulfstream G650ER or Bombardier Global 6000, cruising near 45,000 feet for a smoother ride and improved fuel efficiency across the Atlantic and North American legs of the routing. Ten hours or so later, the aircraft descends into Brown Field on the edge of Chula Vista, trading Capri’s vertiginous cliffs for the flatter terrain of San Diego Bay’s southern shore, where bayfront parks and a steadily modernising marina have become the focal point of the city’s redevelopment. Chula Vista’s biotech corridor and its role hosting elite athletes in training offer a working counterpart to Capri’s tourism-driven economy, and the route tends to suit travellers for whom the romance of a Mediterranean island stay is only one leg of a longer, transcontinental itinerary that an ultra-long-range cabin makes considerably more comfortable to manage from start to finish.
