Private Jet Capri to Madeira

Capri Heliport, perched above the island’s marina, is the starting point for the journey to Madeira, a route that begins with a short helicopter transfer to the mainland before continuing by fixed-wing aircraft across some 1,564 nautical miles of the Mediterranean and Atlantic. A light jet is well suited to the onward sector once airborne from a mainland Italian airport, with the roughly three-hour flight tracking west across the western Mediterranean, Spain and out over open ocean towards the island of Madeira. The helicopter leg from Capri itself is brief but essential, given the island’s lack of a runway, and connects smoothly with a jet departure that then climbs to a cruising altitude sufficient to clear the intervening terrain and reach Madeira in comfort. The final approach into Madeira Airport is among the more memorable in aviation, with a runway built out over the sea on a bridge of concrete columns and a curving descent past cliffs above Funchal that requires specific pilot training for the airport’s terrain and prevailing winds. On arrival, Funchal’s cobbled streets, its terraced vineyards, and the levada trails through the island’s volcanic interior are all close at hand. This route suits travellers extending a stay on Capri, known for its dramatic cliffs and the Blue Grotto, into a further break somewhere with a genuinely different landscape and climate. The combination of helicopter and jet keeps the journey seamless despite the island’s lack of direct fixed-wing access, and chartering the full itinerary as a single arrangement avoids the multiple, poorly connected legs a scheduled routing between Capri and Madeira would otherwise demand of travellers making this unusual but increasingly popular pairing.
