Private Jet Gibraltar to Tallahassee

Few routes on this network cover as much ground, literally and figuratively, as the 3,867 nautical mile crossing from Gibraltar to Tallahassee, a genuinely transatlantic sector that calls for an ultra-long-range aircraft such as the Bombardier Global 7500, capable of covering the distance non-stop with fuel reserves that a lesser aircraft simply could not carry. Cruising near 51,000 feet for part of the crossing, well above where commercial traffic typically operates, the Global 7500 rides above the worst of the weather over the Atlantic. Departing Gibraltar International Airport, whose runway famously crosses the territory’s main road, passengers leave behind the Rock’s dramatic limestone silhouette and its view across the Strait toward North Africa for a landing, roughly seven and a half hours later, in the Florida Panhandle’s Red Hills country, a stretch of rolling terrain and oak canopy that could scarcely look more different. Tallahassee International Airport sits close to the Apalachicola National Forest and within easy reach of the Capitol complex. This crossing serves a narrow but consistent set of travellers: offshore finance and shipping executives with interests on both sides of the Atlantic, diplomatic staff, and the occasional research partnership between British and Florida institutions. Florida State University and Florida A&M University both maintain international academic ties that occasionally justify exactly this kind of long-haul trip. Given the almost complete absence of practical commercial routing between the two points, a direct charter on an aircraft built for genuine range is less a luxury than the only realistic way to make the journey in a single day.
