Private Jet Hammond to Cavallo

Hammond Northshore Regional Airport, north of Lake Pontchartrain, gives Louisiana travellers a quiet alternative to the busier New Orleans-area fields for the roughly 4,620 nautical mile journey to Cavallo. A heavy business jet fits the sector well: the Gulfstream G550 or Bombardier Global 6000 can complete the transatlantic crossing without a fuel stop, typically cruising in the low-to-mid 40,000s where turbulence is generally lighter and the ride noticeably smoother than on shorter, lower-altitude hops. Cavallo, within the Lavezzi archipelago off the southern tip of Corsica, has no airstrip of its own, so passengers arrive via Figari-Sud Corse followed by a short onward transfer to the island. What awaits there is a landscape built around restraint: no cars, sandy paths between a scattering of private villas, and pink granite worn smooth by centuries of Mediterranean swell, all overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio towards Sardinia. Nearby Bonifacio, its pastel citadel perched on sheer limestone cliffs above an old fishing harbour, offers an easy half-day excursion for restaurants or a walk along the ramparts. Coming from the bayou country around Hammond, travellers exchange humid lowland heat and cypress swamp for dry Mediterranean summer air and open granite islets, a genuine change of both climate and character. This route suits guests planning an extended stay away from any real itinerary, whether joining a yacht moored in the strait or simply settling into island life for a week, with the aircraft’s range making the long eastbound sector entirely manageable in a single comfortable leg. Handling teams at Hammond are used to arranging customs and catering for early-morning transatlantic departures, which keeps the start of this long sector as unhurried as the destination itself.
