Private Jet Istanbul to Porto Heli

Istanbul to Porto Heli covers around 356 nautical miles across the Aegean, a short sector well suited to a very light jet or a turboprop such as the Pilatus PC-12, either of which makes the crossing in well under an hour. Istanbul Airport serves Turkey’s largest city, a metropolis straddling Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus, home to the Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar, and a skyline that mixes Byzantine and Ottoman landmarks with a fast-growing modern business district. On arrival in Greece, passengers land at Porto Heli’s own small airport or Kalamata International Airport, both serving a resort town set around a sheltered bay on the Argolic Gulf in the Peloponnese. Porto Heli faces the island of Spetses across a narrow strait, with regular boat connections making it an easy addition to any stay, while Hydra and the graceful old town of Nafplio lie within reach a little further along the coast. Pine-clad hills and olive groves surround the bay, giving the area a calm, understated character that stands in deliberate contrast to Istanbul’s density and pace, and its protected waters have become an increasingly favoured summer anchorage for superyachts cruising the eastern Mediterranean. History is close by too, with the ancient theatre of Epidaurus and the Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae both within about forty minutes of landing. Given how brief this flight is, the route works well for travellers looking to swap the energy of Istanbul for a quiet stretch of the Peloponnese coast within the same afternoon, without the delays of a scheduled connection through Athens, and with the whole crossing over almost before the seatbelt sign switches off.
