Private Jet Lake Como to Chattanooga

Lake Como’s private aviation traffic generally departs from Milan Malpensa, the larger of the city’s two main airports and the one best equipped for long-range business jets. The resulting sector to Chattanooga runs approximately 4,110 nautical miles, within easy reach of a Gulfstream G550 or Bombardier Global 6000, either of which can complete the crossing with fuel to spare, cruising through the lower 40,000s where the ride across the Atlantic tends to be calmest. Como itself, with its lakeside villas and funicular up to Brunate, has long drawn a particular kind of wealthy traveller, one whose counterpart in Tennessee might well be found along the bluffs above the Tennessee River rather than the shores of an alpine lake. Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport delivers arriving passengers into a city built around water in its own way, where the river gorge below Lookout Mountain has become a centre for outdoor recreation much as Como’s lake has for generations in Lombardy. The city’s aquarium, among the larger freshwater collections in the world, sits a few minutes from the airport, as does a growing restaurant scene occupying former industrial buildings along the river. For the design, fashion and manufacturing interests that often link northern Italy with the American South, this sector offers a direct route between two places whose relationship with water and landscape, however different in scale, shapes daily life in both. Private aviation has become an increasingly common way to bridge the two, sparing clients the usual connections through Milan, London or a major American hub that a scheduled itinerary would otherwise demand of a cross-Atlantic journey like this one.
