Private Jet Nantucket to Virginia Beach

The short sector between Nantucket and Virginia Beach measures only about 382 nautical miles, comfortably within range of a very light jet like the Phenom 100 or a turboprop such as the Pilatus PC-12. Nantucket Memorial Airport handles a mix of private and commercial traffic through the summer season, and departures from the island are usually quick, with the aircraft climbing to a modest cruising altitude for the short run down the coast. Nantucket’s cobblestone streets, whaling-era architecture and grey-shingled cottages give the island a distinctly New England character that contrasts with Virginia Beach’s more modern resort development. On arrival, passengers find a three-mile Atlantic boardwalk, First Landing State Park’s cypress wetlands, and the history of Cape Henry Lighthouse, where English colonists first came ashore in 1607. Naval Station Oceana’s presence overhead adds a military dimension entirely absent from Nantucket’s quieter skies. This route is a favourite among East Coast owners who split their summer between the islands of New England and the beaches of the Mid-Atlantic, often making the trip several times a season. Given the short flight time, same-day return trips are entirely practical, and the smaller aircraft categories keep operating costs proportionate to a sector that rarely exceeds an hour in the air. The ability to depart directly from Nantucket without connecting through Boston or New York is a significant part of the route’s appeal for regular travellers. The island’s strict building codes and preserved historic district mean Nantucket has changed relatively little over the decades, which is part of why so many families return year after year and rely on this same direct link to reach it. On the Virginia side, the resort’s more recent development offers amenities and nightlife that the quieter island intentionally does without.
