Private Jet Richmond to Cavallo

Richmond to Cavallo covers roughly 3,850 nautical miles, a sector well matched to a heavy business jet such as the Gulfstream G550 or Bombardier Global 6000, both offering the fuel reserves for a non-stop crossing while cruising near 45,000 feet above much of the Atlantic weather and into the Mediterranean. Richmond International Airport serves as the departure point, with the routing tracking broadly east across the ocean before descending towards Corsica’s southern tip. Cavallo, the destination, is part of the Lavezzi archipelago, separated from Sardinia by the narrow, fast-flowing waters of the Bonifacio Strait, and reachable only by helicopter given the absence of any airstrip on the island; passengers typically connect through Figari-Sud Corse for the short onward transfer. Richmond’s own layered history sits at some remove from Cavallo’s particular brand of Mediterranean seclusion, an island whose granite coves and remarkably clear water have drawn a discreet, largely European clientele for generations, avoiding the marina crowds found further along the Riviera and Sardinian coastlines. For those departing Virginia, the roughly seven-hour flight represents a comfortable transatlantic journey in a heavy jet cabin equipped with proper rest space and full connectivity, allowing passengers to make productive use of the time in the air before arriving at one of Europe’s most private island retreats. The onward helicopter leg over the Bonifacio Strait offers striking views of the strait’s currents and the surrounding granite islands before touching down. Later in the season, when the strait’s currents settle, the tender crossing to the Maddalena archipelago becomes a routine day trip for guests based on Cavallo, adding a further layer of variety to what is otherwise a deliberately simple, low-key stay.
