Private Jet San Jose to Cavallo

San Jose to Cavallo spans roughly 5,381 nautical miles, an ultra-long-range sector well matched to the Gulfstream G650ER, departing Juan Santamaría International Airport near the Costa Rican capital. Cruising at altitudes up to 51,000 feet where routing permits, the G650ER manages the roughly ten and a quarter hour crossing while its cabin altitude technology helps keep passengers noticeably fresher across a journey of this length. Cavallo, the destination, forms part of the Lavezzi archipelago, a cluster of granite islands set within the Bonifacio Strait between Corsica and Sardinia. Costa Rica’s rainforest-fringed volcanoes give way to a very different Mediterranean landscape on arrival, one shaped by maritime pine, weathered granite and water of exceptional clarity, reached without a single road anywhere on the island. Strong currents through the strait keep the sea remarkably transparent, a feature long prized by sailors and one that has helped Cavallo cultivate a discreet, largely European following over the decades. Development has stayed deliberately restrained throughout the island’s history, with owners consistently favouring preservation of the natural landscape over any expansion of visitor capacity. There is no commercial centre here, only villa terraces catching the evening light and the occasional yacht anchored in a sheltered cove. For travellers departing Costa Rica, the route offers a striking contrast between tropical biodiversity and Mediterranean austerity, well suited to guests planning an extended, unhurried stay built around sailing and rest after time spent in the rainforest. Time here settles into a simple rhythm of swimming, an afternoon sail between coves and dinner lingering well into the evening on a shaded terrace.
