Private Jet Serengeti to Bakersfield

The Serengeti’s Seronera Airstrip, a dirt strip in the heart of Tanzania’s most famous national park, is the unlikely starting point for an 8,327 nautical mile journey to Bakersfield, California, a distance that requires the longest-range aircraft in private aviation, namely a Gulfstream G650ER or Bombardier Global 7500, both capable of the crossing with a single technical stop if payload or winds demand it. The flight lifts off from a landscape defined by vast grasslands, the annual wildebeest migration and some of the world’s most concentrated wildlife viewing, before climbing over East Africa and tracking northwest across the continent, the Atlantic and North America toward California’s Central Valley, a journey of roughly sixteen hours in the air. Cruising near the upper limits of the aircraft’s ceiling keeps the ride smooth and efficient across such a distance, with a fully enclosed cabin, proper sleeping arrangements and galley service essential for passenger comfort on a sector this demanding. Arrival at Meadows Field Airport brings travellers into Bakersfield, the agricultural and energy heart of Kern County, a flat, intensively farmed valley that offers about as stark a contrast to the Serengeti’s open savannah as any two points on this list. This route typically serves safari operators, conservation-linked travellers or private individuals returning from an East African expedition to business or family commitments in California, and given the complete absence of scheduled commercial service linking these two specific points, the alternative would involve several connections through Nairobi, a European hub and a major American gateway, consuming the better part of two days. A direct or single-stop charter instead compresses that into one continuous, restful journey home.
