Private Jet Simpson Bay to Peoria

Few Caribbean departures offer a more memorable send-off than Princess Juliana International Airport, where aircraft lift off directly over Maho Beach before turning north-west on the roughly 1,929 nautical mile run to Peoria. A Gulfstream G280 or Challenger 350 is the right tool for the job, cruising near 45,000 feet and covering the distance without a fuel stop even when winter winds over the Gulf run against the aircraft. St Maarten’s handlers are among the busiest in the Leeward Islands, so early slot confirmation pays off during the peak winter season, particularly around the island’s regatta and carnival weeks when ramp space is at a premium. Peoria, waiting at the other end of the journey, trades beach bars for barge traffic; the Illinois River has shaped the city’s economy since its earliest days as a French trading post, and Caterpillar’s long manufacturing presence still defines much of the regional economy. The downtown riverfront, with its civic centre and museums, offers a quieter counterpoint to St Maarten’s nightlife, and the city’s bridges across the river are themselves modest local landmarks. Glendale Municipal Airport provides a calm, efficient arrival well away from busier regional hubs. The route suits villa owners, charter guests and crew moving between the island’s marine industry and business interests in the American Midwest, and the roughly three and a half hour flight gives the super-mid cabin’s stand-up height and proper galley a chance to earn their keep, whether for a working lunch or simply unwinding after a busy stretch on St Maarten’s crowded winter social calendar and bustling marina district.
